Who We Are

Bridge the gap between women and services 1 in Four is here to act as a bridge between women who have experienced domestic violence and the services available to them in  Hamilton.   We do not offer counseling or shelter, what we offer is a starting point for answers to questions such as:  What is domestic violence? Where can I find a shelter? Where can I go for counseling?

Through our on-going Blog , we offer words directly from the experiences of a survivor of domestic violence. Our Calendar shows the events offered in Hamilton by service agencies, to help keep women connected.  We provide a comprehensive list of Community Resources . We also have short-answer Video clips to Frequently Asked Questions about domestic violence, and we have a Forum where women can interact, sharing tips, jokes, recipes, self-care suggestions, or even pieces of their own story if they feel like it is time for them to have a voice.

The Founders of 1 in Four are women survivors of domestic violence. We are not trained social workers, nor do we claim to have the answers -- we are here to offer our own experiences in the hopes it can help someone else. We are the vehicle, not the destination.

For all women survivors of domestic violence to be empowered by engaging in their own healing and to safely connect within their communities.

To empower women survivors of domestic violence in Hamilton to connect with established community services and to engage communities in challenging their perceptions of domestic violence.
