One Billion RisingOn February 14, 2013, one billion women from around the world and those who love them, will walk out, dance, rise up and demand an end to violence. One Billion Rising will move the earth, activating women and men across every country. We invite you to show the world our collective strength, our numbers, and our solidarity across borders by joining a One Billion Rising event in your community.

  • Women’s Centre of Hamilton (100 Main St. East, Suite 205, 905-522-0127.) event to honour One Billion Rising and demand an end to violence against women.
    12noon - Yoga with Anita http://www.anitakaiser.com/  (Rise and get your soul dancing with some gentle yoga!).
    1pm - Readings from The Vagina Monologues (Gather for a reading to celebrate women’s bodies!).
    No cost and no registration required. Please bring a yoga mat, if possible.
  • Feminist Alliance McMaster is hosting Information Booths at 1pm, Zumba at 3pm, Belly Dancing at 4pm and a Flash Mob/Dance Party at 6pm. All of these events are taking place at the McMaster University Student Centre Atrium.
  • Good Shepherd Women’s Services is hosting a Dance, Educate, Advocate for Change event 5:30-6:30pm at 10 Pearl St. North
  • Hamilton & District Labour Counsel is joining the global strike at City Hall, 71 Main St. West 5:30pm-7:30pm
