August 12th we hosted a launch party along with
Information Hamilton
to unveil our
new Community Links page
, being maintained through an amazing custom plug-in designed and implemented by
RedBook
.
We couldn't be happier! Instead of our old static (and often out-dated!) directory of local services, this new dynamic directory allows for comprehensive and MUCH more helpful access to all the information on services in Hamilton (and area).
Our launch was well attended, even mayoral candidate Brian McHattie was on hand for a slice of cake, and The Hamilton Spectator featured an awesome article about our afternoon.
We want to send a warm thanks out to the amazing staff at Information Hamilton, without whom this event could not have happened. Thanks also to Jess Prominski from Hollaback Hamilton who delivered a great keynote speech at the event, talking about street harassment and the many ways the new RedBook resource can help women find supports. We had help from so many wonderful people to pull this off, including The Button Pushers (who came to our rescue and loaned us equipment in the 11th hour so we could have great buttons on hand for the day!) and Good Shepherd Women's Services (who donated our beautiful door prize baskets and plant arrangements). A very special thanks goes out to Lis Henry for all her hard work and dedication, between late-night button making, plant arrangements and all her help on the day of the event -- thanks mom! 🙂
